Honoring 50 Years of Virginia Garcia at the Oregon Historical Society
At the opening of Virginia Garcia: Fifty Years of Legacy and Impact in Our Community, a special exhibit at the Oregon Historical Society, we celebrated our 50th anniversary among founders, Virginia Garcia staff and board members, and long-standing supporters. The exhibit showcases five decades of our work in providing community-led health care.
“The exhibit tells a story of determination—of the little organization in a three-car garage that could and can,” said Stefanny Caballero, Executive Director of Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation. “It is a celebration that honors the short life and longstanding legacy of little six-year old Virginia, who inspired us then and continues to inspire us today."
Virginia’s death in 1975 was a catalyst that galvanized individuals, agencies, and advocates to create a new model of care. That same year, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center was founded in her memory.
50 years later, attendees perused the exhibit, learning about our humble beginnings as a volunteer-run clinic, to our current eighteen clinics across Washington and Yamhill counties. Founders and children of founders reflected on how far this organization has come.

"We celebrate our patients and their resilience, their desire to thrive, and the invaluable contributions to our communities, even in the most challenging of circumstances,” said Stefanny.
The exhibit is open now and runs through August 3. We would love to meet you at the exhibit - reach out to our team to arrange a personal tour and learn more.
Save the Date for ¡Prospera! 2025
There is a lot happening in the world, and through it all, there is still so much to celebrate. Virginia Garcia turns 50 this year and we are honoring that milestone by doing what we have always done: centering community, amplifying voices, and working together to build a healthier, more just future.
For five decades, Virginia Garcia has provided high-quality, comprehensive, culturally appropriate health care. This work is possible because of you—our dedicated partners, supporters, and advocates.
As we reflect on the past and look toward the future, one thing is clear: impact happens when we come together.
We invite you to be part of this movement and mark your calendar for an evening of purpose, connection, and celebration.
Save the date and join us on Friday, September 26, 2025, for a night that honors our history and fuels our future.
More than a fundraiser, ¡Prospera! is a gathering of visionaries, changemakers, and champions of health equity. Together, we will uplift stories, celebrate progress, and invest in the next 50 years of impact.

Partners In Our Work: The CHP Group
Thank you to all who joined us at our Health Care Symposium on April 24. If you were unable to attend or would like to revisit the webinar, a recording is available through the button below. This year's Health Care Symposium was made possible by our Annual Partner, The CHP Group.
The CHP Group has been a proud supporter of Virginia Garcia for over 17 years. The CHP Group sees the importance of the health care services Virginia Garcia delivers to underserved populations. As we continue to be challenged by access to care, mobile health provides opportunities to care to those who may be challenged by lack of transportation and other social determinants of health. As a facilitator of health care services, it is important to The CHP Group that communities have access to essential health services. The continued partnership between our organizations upholds a shared commitment to advancing equitable access to healthcare services, collaborative approaches to addressing the evolving healthcare needs of diverse populations and fostering healthier communities.
Since its founding in 1989, The CHP Group has become the leading authority in delivering accessible, high-quality integrative health care solutions that promote member and employee health and satisfaction while managing rising healthcare costs. We are so proud to partner with Virginia Garcia and look forward to seeing the impacts of Virginia Garcia’s community leadership.
